New Electrical Connections — Sedgman Electrics
Level 2 ASP — Ausgrid & Endeavour Energy Authorised

    New Electrical Connections

New overhead and underground grid connections for residential and commercial premises across Greater Sydney

    About This Service

Connecting Your Premises to the Grid

New electrical connections establish a brand new supply from the Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy network to a premises that has never had power — or has had its connection permanently removed. The process requires a Level 2 ASP to design the connection, submit a DNSP works application, install service mains, arrange metering through an accredited metering coordinator, and manage energisation. Sedgman holds both Level 2 ASP accreditation and metering coordinator registration, so the full connection process is managed by a single contractor.

New connections are in high demand across Sydney's growth corridors — Marsden Park, Box Hill, Gledswood Hills, and Oran Park — where greenfield residential estates are being connected for the first time. Infill development and dual occupancy projects in established suburbs also require new NMIs and connections for each separate dwelling. Commercial tenancy fitouts in Parramatta, Macquarie Park, and the Sydney CBD regularly require new sub-metered NMIs. We manage the end-to-end process across both Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy network areas.

    How We Work

    New Connection Process

    1

    Design & DNSP Application

We design the connection type, point of supply, and service mains specification, then submit to Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy.

    2

    Works Approval

The DNSP reviews and approves the connection design, including any network augmentation requirements.

    3

    Service Mains Installation

We install overhead or underground service mains from the network to the premises main switchboard.

    4

    Metering & NMI Creation

We install the meter and create the NMI with AEMO as your accredited metering coordinator.

    5

    Energisation

The DNSP energises the connection and supply is confirmed live at the switchboard.

    Common Scenarios

When Do You Need a New Electrical Connection?

    01

New residential build requiring first-time grid connection

Greenfield homes and knock-down rebuilds need a new connection from the network to the main switchboard before supply can be energised.

    02

Dual occupancy or subdivision requiring separate NMIs

Each separate dwelling on a subdivided lot requires its own NMI and metered connection to the network.

    03

Commercial tenancy requiring a new metered connection

New commercial tenancies and fitouts often require a dedicated NMI and interval meter separate from the building's main supply.

    04

Demolition and rebuild requiring new connection after removal

After permanent disconnection for demolition, a new connection and NMI must be established for the replacement dwelling.

    05

Rural or semi-rural property requiring new overhead connection

Acreage and semi-rural properties often require new overhead connections via private poles from the street network.
