Disconnection & Reconnection from the Network

Disconnection and reconnection involves safely isolating a premises from the Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy network — either permanently for demolition, or temporarily for major renovation, sale, or safety reasons — and then reconnecting supply once works are complete. Network disconnection and reconnection on the service mains side of the meter requires a Level 2 ASP. Standard electricians cannot perform this work. Sedgman coordinates the full process with the DNSP including application, scheduling, isolation, and re-energisation.

Disconnection is commonly required for knockdown-rebuilds across established Sydney suburbs — particularly in the Inner West, Northern Beaches, and Hills District where older dwellings are replaced with new builds. Temporary disconnection is also needed for major renovations requiring service mains relocation, unsafe installations requiring isolation before rectification, and properties being sold with outstanding electrical defects. Reconnection after renovation or construction requires compliance certification before the DNSP will re-energise.
