Private Power Pole Supply & Installation

A private power pole is a pole located on private property that carries the overhead service mains from the network pole to your premises. Unlike the network pole on the street — which is owned and maintained by Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy — the private pole is your responsibility as the property owner. This includes the pole itself, stay wires, cross arms, and the overhead conductors running from it to your building.

Timber private poles have a typical lifespan of 25 to 40 years. Termites, ground rot, storm damage, and general weathering cause poles to lean, crack, or fail entirely. Many properties in Western Sydney, the Hills District, and outer suburbs still have original timber poles from when the property was first connected — and those poles are now approaching or past end of life. A failed private pole means loss of supply until replacement is completed.
