New residential and commercial grid connections involve establishing a brand new electrical supply from the Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy network to a premises that has never been connected — or that requires a new NMI after demolition and rebuild. The process requires a Level 2 ASP to design the point of supply, submit a DNSP works application, install overhead or underground service mains from the network to the premises, arrange metering through an accredited metering coordinator, and manage energisation. Sedgman holds both Level 2 ASP accreditation and metering coordinator registration, so the full connection is managed by a single contractor.

New residential connections are in high demand across Sydney's growth corridors — Marsden Park, Box Hill, Gledswood Hills, and Oran Park — where greenfield estates are connecting hundreds of new dwellings each year. Dual occupancy and infill development in established suburbs like Ryde, Parramatta, and the Hills District require separate NMIs for each new dwelling on the same lot. Commercial connections are regularly required for new tenancies in Parramatta, Macquarie Park, and Sydney CBD where fitouts need dedicated metered supply.
